Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T77

CONDITION: 7.5/10

THE CAMERA IS IN VERY GOOD COSMETIC CONDITION WITH MINOR SCREEN WEAR. THE PAINT BELOW THE SCREEN IS WORN WHERE THE THUMB NATURALLY RESTS, BUT OTHERWISE THE BODY IS CLEAN WITH NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE.

Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-T77 arrived in 2008 as one of the slimmest cameras ever made, measuring just 15mm thick. Packing a 10.1-megapixel sensor, 4× Carl Zeiss zoom, and a 3-inch touchscreen into an impossibly thin metal body, the T77 was designed for style-conscious users who wanted serious capability without the bulk.

NO FILTER: SHOT ON T77

THE LOOKS

In pink, the T77 is playful and eye-catching, with a brushed metal finish that feels premium despite its featherweight build. The entire body is dominated by the sliding front panel that powers the camera on and off with a satisfying snap, protecting the lens when closed. At just 15mm thick and 151g with battery, it’s slim enough to slip into any pocket and designed to turn heads.

THE SPECS

Inside, the T77 uses a 10.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor paired with Sony’s BIONZ image processor. The Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4× optical zoom lens covers a 35–140mm equivalent range with Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization built in. The 3-inch touchscreen LCD in 16:9 aspect ratio with 230K-dot resolution handles all composition and playback, while Intelligent Scene Recognition automatically detects and optimizes settings across eight different scene modes.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

• Ultra-slim 15mm body: Sony claimed it was the thinnest camera with a 4× optical zoom at launch — genuinely pocketable.
• Full touchscreen interface: Minimal physical controls with touch-based navigation, focus selection, and playback zoom.
• Smile Shutter mode: Automatically captures when it detects a smile, with adjustable sensitivity and face priority between adults and children.

THE VERDICT

The T77 is a sleek, stylish ultracompact from Sony’s T-series golden era. It’s impossibly thin, surprisingly capable, and packed with clever features that made everyday photography feel futuristic. A perfect snapshot of mid-2000s compact camera ambition.
